BBB uses the latest 4G network infrastructure in some markets to deliver a defined super-fast broadband product where the networks allow. Whilst 4G networks are really focused on city and urban areas, we find 4G offers an excellent performance/price combination for some types of customers where coverage does exist.
In March 2018 BBB though its Quickline Communications subsidiary won a £2.1 grant from BDUK (the Government agency that focuses on broadband speeds across the UK) to conduct field trials to establish the forthcoming 5G standard working TV whitespace frequencies. This is old analogue TV spectrum now unused with the switch to digital TV across the UK. In this project BBB is working with a consortium of universities and hardware manufacturers to be one of the first companies in Europe to connect a true 5G customer.
